Free School Meals Voucher Update

31 March 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

Free School Meals Vouchers

During the school closure, we have been making packed lunches for children who are eligible for Free School Meals and parents have been collecting these from the school. Unfortunately, this doesn’t include KS1 children who receive Universal Free School Meals.

You may have seen in the news the Government will be releasing information to schools about how schools can provide supermarket vouchers for families who are eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals to be used after the Easter Holidays. As soon as we receive this information, we will contact parents/carers who are eligible for Free School Meals.

If you are not contacted by school, but believe you are entitled to benefits-related Free School Meals, or if your employment circumstances have recently changed please visit https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals, where eligibility criteria is listed and applications can be made.

Please also be aware that in accordance with the Government guidelines, the vouchers are for term time only and will not be issued during the Easter holidays.  There are a number of online resources available to support families in preparing healthy and nutritious food, including on the NHS Eat Well website. Vouchers will not be available for children who do not receive benefit-related Free School Meals.

Yours sincerely

Mr P Hartley

Head of School
